Assessments

WHAT IS AN ASSESSMENT?

A safety, security and emergency responce assessment uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative techniques to evaluate the vulnerability of the facility's assets to certain threats and how those threats and vulnerabilities put the mission of the organization and facility at risk. In an assessment:

  • Assets to be protected are identified and prioritized.

  • The intent, motivation, and possible tactics of perpetrators of a threat are evaluated.

  • Vulnerabilities to the identified threats are identified.

Using these findings from the asset, threat, and vulnerability analysis, approperiate countermeasures can be selected, evaluated, and recommended.

Risk Analysis

What are you trying to protect? Surprisingly this basic question often goes unanswered, yet it is fundamental to any successful security and emergency responce plan. Our consultants guide our clients through the process of identifying and prioritize your key assests. Assets are those things important to the process used to accomplish the mission of your organization. Your people, information, property, and how you combine them into a process, are all assests that require protection. Generally assests are prioritized on how their loss would affect the survival and ongoing operation of the organization or facility.

Threat Analysis

A threat is any action with the potential to cause harm to an organization's people, operations, information, and / or property. Our consultants will define the level of threat (either intended, accidental, or natural) an organization or facility faces by analyzing what circumstances might cause a problem and how those circumstances occur. The process involves the collection of quantitative data (crime statistics, past incidents, etc.) and a qualitative assessment of the conditions that might invite undesirable behaviors, accidents or natural disasters. The equalitative assessment includes such considerations as; what motivation an attacker might have, is there a high threat of an accident or a natural disaster? Our consultants will consider these and many other factors in developing the type and level of threat likely to be faced.

Vulnerability Analysis

Vulnerabilities are those things that leave a facility or organization open to attack or damage by a perpetrator, a natural, or an accidental event. Standing Stone will provide an in depth analysis of how specific vulnerabilities may invite or permit a threat to occur. Vulnerabilities take many forms, they can be in a facility's location, design and construction, or they may be in an organization's policies and procedures. Because our consultants have the in depth, first hand experience of dealing with incidents of all kinds, from intended to accidental, we can help our clients understand and prioritize their vulnerabilities.

THE BENEFITS OF AN ASSESSMENT

Once the above three analyses are completed, they are combined together into a Risk Analysis. A Risk Analysis is an examination of the consequences to an organization or facility of any occurrence that may interfere with their mission. The Risk Anaylsis is the basis of a sound and successful security and emergency responce plan.

A major benefit of having Standing Stone on your security and emergency responce planning team is that we bring an unparalleled breath and depth of experience to each project.
