	CPTED-RED PRINCIPLES
	SURVEILLANCE Surveillance is the ability to observe the surroundings with the purpose of discouraging inappropriate behaviors and permitting a suitable response should one be required.
	TERRITORIALITY Creating the feeling of ownership and belonging is referred to as territoriality. People will naturally be more protective of something that they a feel a part of, or for which they feel ownership.
	MAINTENANCE Without proper maintenance safety, security and emergency response measures often become ineffective or even detrimental because they no longer function as intended.
	MILIEU Only by understanding the culture of an organization can appropriate strategies be developed to mitigate and respond to the risks they may face.
	ACCESS CONTROL Access Control is a process used to manage where, when, and how intended users enter and also how to deny entry to unintended users.
	RECEPTIVITY Creating an environment that is receptive to emergency response personnel and equipment from both the internal and external community.
	COMMUNITY BUY-IN Creating a sense of ownership of the response process by both the internal and external responders.
	COMMUNICATION Balancing natural, organized and technical approaches of communication to illicit an appropriate response.
