Emergency Management

Our mission at STANDING STONE CONSULTING INC. is to help create the safest environments possible, while at the same  time supporting and enhancing the primary mission of our client's organization and facility. Emergency Management is the process of preparing for, mitigating, responding to and recovering from an emergency. An emergency can be anything that has a negative impact on your organization or facility. What constitutes an inconvenience for one organization can be a disaster for another. A stuffed toilet can be a nuisance or an emergency depending on the circumstances. An emergency must be considered within the context of the impact it has on the organization and the surrounding community. If there are additional toilets available it is a nuisance, if there is only one it is an emergency. STANDING STONE works closely with our clients to develop effective emergency management strategies to prepare for and recover from an emergency incident. Good emergency planning and preparedness allows your organization to prevent or recover from damages to property and financial losses, and it can reduce your exposure to liability and regulatory fines.

Emergency management is a dynamic process. Planning, training, and coordination with community resources are critical to a successful program. STANDING STONE aids our clients in evaluating their current emergency management capability. Can the client fulfill their responsibility to protect their people, their property and their processes? Where are the risks and how can they be overcome? Our consultants lead the client through this planning process, provide training and help conduct drills, so that they are prepared for and can recover from an emergency.

The five aspects in any comprehensive Emergency Management Plan:

Proactive

Determining and prioritizing the assets requiring protection, assessing the likely threats and ascertaining the vulnerabilities are the first steps towards eliminating or mitigating an emergency.

Preventative

Limiting the impact of a crisis to an organization should an emergency occur.

Reactive

Appropriately responding to an incident that has occurred to further limit the impact on the organization and to prepare for recovery measures.

Recovery

Bringing back to operation the functions of an organization, both in the short and long term.

Enhancement

The overall review of practices, policies and procedures relating to drills and actual events that are aimed at identifying areas of weakness and improving them.

Emergencies cost businesses and other organizations millions of dollars in losses every year. Being well prepared can prevent and lower those losses. Reasonable steps can be taken to limit injuries and damage and return to normal operations more quickly. Call us to find out how your organization can be better prepared.
