Karl Mercer

Mr. Mercer’s 30 years of national and international experience, have provided him an extensive background in counter terrorism, force protection, explosives, emergency communications and weapons of mass destruction. Mr. Mercer is a recognized Anti-terrorism and Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Emergency Team Operations expert. He has lead several law enforcement strike forces.

Mr. Mercer’s breadth and depth of experience has made him a high demand resource both nationally and internationally for a wide variety of organizations. Karl has supervised teams of adjunct law enforcement instructors as well as coordinated the statewide training of Fire Marshals in the Basic Law Enforcement School, Firearms and Tactics, Officer Survival, Anti-Terrorism, Surveillance, and Fire Investigations for the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy and the United States Government. In addition, Karl has been a combat instructor for the United States Military as well as a Firearms and Armed Tactics Instructor for law enforcement and has commanded tactical Services Units. Karl was also an adjunct instructor to the Quality Management Center, Headquarters Air National Guard in Washington. Finally, he has consulted in the development and design of new protective equipment for response personnel.

Some of Karl’s recent work has included:

• SWAT Commander and Canine Services Supervisor
• US Customs Service - Providing expertise in explosive concealment and areas of concern to the search teams
• Amtrak - Worked with rail police on weapons and narcotics interdiction, providing training and conducting investigations.
• Alexis International - Provided instruction to Royal Saudi Arabian Air Force Military Police Academy
• US Forest Service – Provided employee protection training
• National Fire Service of Belize – Provided fire and explosion investigator training
• NASCAR – Authored the operational plan and survey on physical security and bomb mitigation post Sept. 11th, 2001, and
• Montgomery College – Security vulnerability study for three campuses.
